Trump Amid the Mediocrities

Lest they falter at the prospect of pleasing
The status quo, the mediocrities
Kneel at the altar of political
Correctness, PC as they’re wont to say,
To receive a sanctioned wafer from the speech
Police placed on their fat protruding tongues.
Conditioned, they’ve grasped this wafer as the stuff
To mask progressive and other sundry motives.
To not swallow begins their being shunned.
Fascinated by their own ebb and flow,
They block the annoying malaise from conscious perception.

An outsider penetrates their stilted poise!
Who is it? It’s Trump, who upends the counterfeit,
Confronts their bogus decorum with mighty force,
With bold outspoken character, the real
Right stuff. He’s unafraid of their cynicism,
Their scorching, uninformed criticism,
And he refuses to breathe the parasitized
Air wafting from the fetid PC altar.
He will explode the mediocrities,
An exquisite strike on the pins in a game of tenpins.
He will deliver us from evil and bring
Us Truth, Justice and the American Way.

To their dismay, this course he’s going to stay!!

The Fifty Year Reunion

He doesn’t want to go. He doesn’t care
To see old classmates after fifty years.

How to answer, “How have you been?” “I am
No longer thin?” The conversation ends,
An old school chum exits the chat, ineptness
Stays. Next, the night for wives or paramours
Arrives. He shuts his eyes, sore apathy.

He hates reminiscing, longing to have performed
Much better than in point of fact he did,
Hates riding on fumes in the tank, the emptiness.

He’s learned what love is, remembers it eluding
His perception, her pulling away, a couple
Of hers, across the years. Little time left
To find a Helga and understand her soul.

Dublin Weather

So the weather in Dublin is meet,
Not so hot, not so cold, a fair treat.
An American asked,
“Is the cold a great task?”
A reply, “not until the first heat.”

Chipotle Burrito Love Haiku Contest

About burritos, senryu the better term?
Tequila wanted absent the worm
To help create the seventeen sounds
Extolling tortillas wrapped around.

A Japanese form with a Tex-Mex dish,
Meat, beans, rice, salsa more as you wish.
A garlicked guac tinged by lime
Can soothe the tongue, set cheeks to chime.

The prize, a dinner, not a steal,
A meal a week for further spiels?
A strategy to market Chipotle,
For savvy investors come what may!

Layer Cake

She went to see his wife one day,
Their alien friend who sought advice.
Forms to complete a certain way,
A necessary and apt device.

Their alien friend who sought advice,
Almost a waif, married with child.
A necessary and apt device,
Her beauty and smile, he’d grown beguiled.

Almost a waif, married with child,
They had known her for many years.
Her beauty and smile, he’d grown beguiled,
But he knew he shouldn’t stay near.

They had known her for many years.
One time to him she mouthed, “I love you,”
But he knew he shouldn’t stay near.
Impossible a love so new.

One time to him she mouthed, “I love you!”
Surprised he was but not displeased.
Impossible a love so new,
Yet still he craved her gentle breeze.

Surprised he was but not displeased,
Forms to complete a certain way.
As he still craved her gentle breeze,
She went to see his wife one day.

de Blasio and the NYPD

Nincompoop nincompoop
Mayor de Blasio
Hundreds did shun you well
Rightfully so!

Politic politic
Characteristically
Sharpton now Sharpton now
Are you in tow?

Shh!

Sixteen
Splendid
Stainless

Stained
Scorned
Spurned

Surgery
Sliced
Sterile

Stunned
Shame
Silence

Static
Seething

Squalls
Seething

Seething

Seething

Shh!

Not Brownian Motion

Yellow shirt, blue skirt,
She sat with him on the porch.
He looked at her face,
Molecules aligned in waves,
Wonted mien, he loved this girl.

Acceptance

Poignant regrets of true identity
Burden his heart and soul quite heavily:

To know his silences were not restraint
But voids of absence gray, a dismal paint;
(For those well seasoned who’d employed restraint,
‘Twas nice cover for their own troubling taints.
)

To know his somber stigma gravely fixed
More closely than stigmata’s painful licks,
Cheerily camouflaged except from those
Whose eyes could focus plumb behind his pose;
(Of these, a few portrayed ignoble plots
Acquiring skill in taking cheap, cheap shots.
)

To know all this, unable to change what’s past,
Futile, the present tense to soon be past
But not just yet. He takes some time to stare
Languishing, sadness seems to draw him there,
His world of never knowing what he wanted,
Important choices not allowed undaunted.

Take a Time Out!

Create the space for kids to strut their stuff.
An act of work it is to put at bay
Exhaustion, impatience and other trials beset.
But once achieved and then again, the lay
Of land for growth is smooth enough.

Asked the eight year old, “Can we go for chicken wings?”
“Sure,” his grand-aunt answered, “and maybe pizza too!”
Brimming with confidence, the little boy
Out the front door led the procession of two.
